go Venus and Serena!

Other than Safin, they're the only players I care about in the French Open, since Blake lost. I'm hoping Serena crushes her bracket :D

Man, what happened to all the US men? Are clay courts that hard to find back home?
The French Open is the one slam I don't really pay attention to. I don't know why.
I'm cheering for Mauresmo for no other reason than she's a homer.

Laf, they all wiped out, apparently. The U.S. has never been all that strong on clay (at least in recent years). Personally, I've only run across clay courts once, at a boarding school, so I'd imagine it's just not a strength of ours. I think I pay less attention to the French Open because the U.S. players don't do so well there. I mean, I'm not interested in watching Mary Pierce play :P Kind of nice to hear that Mauresmo is still playing, but I'm not a fan of hers, haha.

I hope Venus's form improves.

Sigh, Safin fell in the 2nd round.

Is Agassi the last American guy to win there? That would be sad.
(I just checked -- yeah he is. Back in 1999).
I miss Pete Sampras. And Jim Courier. And Michael Chang. Even Agassi. US Mens Tennis doesn't do it for me these days. And while I like Federer I don't want him breaking Pete's record. :P
I've only ever used clay here in Japan.
I didn't like the Williams Sisters at first but since they've been struggling I'm a little more sympathetic towards them.

I miss them too! I never really liked Agassi, but he was a superb player. I wish Courier had gone a little farther in his career; he was excellent. Seriously, other than Safin and Blake I don't care about any of the men playing. I don't really care about Pete's record - he was lucky to get it, heh. And I really don't like that Australian punk. I'd definitely boycott him if I could (but I'd have to be attending matches in the first place). Federer's a good kid but just doesn't interest me :D

And the women's side isn't much better as it's only Venus, Serena, and Martina Hingis (is she still playing?). I like the Williams sisters because they have spectacular potential that's only been partially realized. The day they can play a clean match against each other is the day they will be unbeatable (practically, since one of them is going to end up losing that match :D). Also, I think they get a lot of flack because they're unpolished. The tennis world seems a little too homogenized in a lot of ways so I'm so glad they're out there kicking ass.

Clay? Really?! I don't think I've played on clay here once.
