people who cannot cook

really ought to know better than to hazard mixing random ingredients in the hope of making something appetizing. Unless it's tried-and-true combinations like chocolate and fruit, or yogurt and fruit, or something similar, it's doomed to failure.

Doomed.

Yet I persist, lately. I'm not sure why.

Because, I suppose, experimenting is all part of the fun.

And who's to say that something magnificent won't come out of it?

Yeah, experimenting is fun. But mostly I'm driven by the desire to use up the stuff in my kitchen, and I lack enough basic knowledge to make something edible (i.e. miso and mayo is not a promising combo). :D

Ha. Sounds a lot like something I'd try...

hmm, for mayo, you could always slather it on a firm oily fish (like salmon filet), sprinkle on furikake, and then stick it under the broiler until it's done. miso - there are miso-glazed fish recipes online that seem easy enough. also, i've made a vinagrette with miso and honey before. can't remember the recipe but it was easy and could be drizzled over veggies and protein. It's ok, keep it up and eventually you'll learn.

yamster > really? I rather imagined that all your meals were perfect and healthy!

berta > oh, miso and honey sounds like a lovely combination and a vinaigrette would prevent it from being too heavy. I'll have to try that.

Only when they are cooked by the hubby. I'm decent at salads, though. :)

Miso and honey is a good combo — I've had it before. You can probably find a recipe online.

I had mayo on steamed asparagus wrapped in nori at a vegan restaurant. Sounds a little weird but was actually pretty good.

lol, I used to do that all the time when I was a student. Now I do it less because the bf has to eat it sometimes...so I try to follow tried and true recipes intead. :D

yamster> I'm terrible with salads too... I can manage fruit, and that seems to be about it :P

blu> Heh, I guess everyone's happier that way. I really should do that. When I get home, I'm going to start with something simple like pancakes.
