Debating between 2 external hard disks, both by IOData. Should I go with the 5400 rpm drive or the 7200 rpm drive? They're both 120 GB in size. They differ in price by about 1400 yen (about 14 dollars).
You will only notice the difference with very big files and other long usage activity. RPM is one thing but ask about the "seek time" which is the real telling figure.
I ended up getting the 7200 one. I still don't know what the seek time is on it. Oh well. It seems pretty fast for my needs though so it turned out ok. Was on sale too. I'm not so impressed by the quality control, as the hard disk is getting noisier and noisier. It's still working though.
